Homework

 

Second graders are expected to read twenty minutes, five times a week. In addition to reading with family members, students are encouraged to use www.raz-kids.com.

Fundations homework needs to be completed with an adult and corrected before it is returned to school. Please make sure your child uses a pencil and writes his/her name at the top of the page. All homework assignments should be completed in your child's best handwriting. The website www.spellingcity.com is a great resource to help your child with his/her weekly spelling words. 

Math homework is a vehicle for communicating with families and connecting school mathematics with students' everyday lives. Homework assignments extend the student's understanding of the concepts he/she has been working on at school. 

Fundations homework will be sent home on Mondays and due on Thursdays. A math packet will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. There will be a letter attached describing which assisngments need to be completed each week. I understand schedules get busy and that some days are crazier than others. I encourage parents to help their child establish a routine that will allow sufficient time throughout the week to complete the homework on time.
